This FREE class, taught by Tina Gibbs, owner of Beautiful Minds, Heart & Soul, is designed for adults who are exposed to the daily stresses of caring for a person on the autism spectrum. Parents, grandparents, and adult siblings are welcome to attend.
About Directed Painting: This technique is a very different and unique way of creating art. It is meant for those who do not consider themselves “artists” and also for those who do. This way of painting is meant for your mind, body, and soul. You will be learning some techniques to quiet your mind, bring out your inner artist, and create a one-of-a-kind piece of art. Your canvas is a 12×12 textured cardstock taped to a pizza box (for handling). The acrylic paint is poured on top of the paper in a certain way and you are then simply directed to take the tool (brush, sponge, stick, paper towel, etc) and move it in a particular direction (up, down, left, right, or bounce). Let the paint flow into something beautiful as it is without judgement. Be Mindful. Be Open. Be Creative!
Tina’s STORY: A MnemeTherapist, owner of Beautiful Minds, LLC and member of The Art Without Boundaries Association. MnemeTherapy is a multi-modality art-based, whole brain therapy that uses movement, singing, storytelling, praise and directed painting to create neuroplasticity (new connections) in the brain. However, it’s all about the process of “doing the painting” that creates those changes in the brain.
REGISTRATION REQUIRED! Space will be limited to the first 13 who register.
