JUNE FAMILY OF THE MONTH SPOTLIGHT:
Hi! My name is Norah Jayne. My favorite things include dogs, horses, and Bluey. I really enjoy washing my hands.
Loud noises like motorcycles, ambulances, vacuums, and even sometimes trucks might bother me.
I can talk, but I still have trouble communicating and expressing my feelings and needs.
We just want everyone to know that we know it’s hard sometimes, but we love you. 🩷

5.25.25. YOUR NEXT HINT FOR THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT:
Accept. Advocate. Support. Empower.
We first introduced these words in December 2024! Did you catch it? 😉
These words will be *extremely important* when we make our announcement at the rescheduled Taking Steps for Autism Walk & 5K on Saturday, June 21.
We are excited (and beyond ready!🫶🏻) to celebrate your family at the Vanderburgh 4H!
Here is this year’s color by numbers that our families color at the walk.
Our President of our Board of Directors, Kathleen, had a hand in assisting for the inspiration, as this is her son, Jake, & husband, Rob.
This was drawn by our artist, Nora, who serves on our board. Nora is an adult on the spectrum and her insight is invaluable!
See you soon!! The announcement will be made at 10:20am, right before the family walk begins at 10:30am!
We hope you’ll join us for the ribbon cutting.🩷

5.13.25. We decided to make drastic improvements at Autism Evansville, & one of those will be announced at our rescheduled walk in June!
With making positive changes, we sought guidance from Tad Dickel with T.A. Dickel Group, LLC. Several members of our board of directors have been working directly with Tad behind the scenes for several weeks to finalize our strategic plan.
A heartfelt thank you to Tad for his guidance, support, and leadership!! We’ve had a fantastic experience planning things out strategically.
We hear what you need, and we need it, too.
Best of all, Tad thinks it can happen! Trust us when we say we’re working hard behind the scenes to make your dreams, and ours, a reality. 🫶🏻

May 2025. FAMILY OF THE MONTH SPOTLIGHT:
Hi! I’m Carter and my nickname is CC.
I was diagnosed with autism at the age of 2.
I have been through a lot since then. With the help of others in our autism community, my mom has been able to get me a behavioral therapist, a respite care friend, and the proper health care team.
I can say and repeat words and phrases, but I have a hard time communicating my needs. I now have a speech device that I have been using to help me communicate.
I have grown a lot lately, not only physically, but emotionally as well. My mom and dad are very proud of me, and I am proud of myself too.
Some of my favorite things are pizza (I’d eat it for every meal if my mom would let me),
swimming, driving through the car wash, the sensory room at my local church, and jumping.
SkyZone was my favorite Autism Evansville family event. Last year I attended the Autism walk
and I faced my fear of the bounce houses, and I participated in them for the first time with the
help of volunteers, and it was a lot of fun.
I have a lot of goals that I work on daily at home, as well as my weekly appointments with
occupational therapy, speech therapy, and the TLC program at my school. Skills that are easy
for most kids can be a challenge for me, but I work extra hard so I can achieve them independently one day.
My hope is that others will see that we are all unique and special in our own ways, and even if I
have a hard time communicating, come and say hello to me anyway. I love to be included!!
